Its bare woody stems are fiery oranges & reds that contrast wonderfully against the snow & ice, & can be complimented by being planted alongside other varieties of Dogwood with different coloured stems. However, this attractive shrub is not just a winter plant. In spring fresh green shoots emerge & the lush foliage then becomes a backdrop for early summer white flowers that are followed by glossy, black berries. In autumn, before the leaves fall, to reveal the brighly coloured stems, the foliage turns red. It is a great shrub for the back of wide garden borders.
