- its a well-loved apple variety in the UK. A reliable cultivar, ' Gala' apples are attractive & red flushed, surprisingly sweet when eaten straight from the tree, & make delicious apple juice. They can be harvested from September & eaten fresh, or stored for up to 3 months without losing their sweet flavour. The crowns of ' Gala? trees are easily reached to prune, spray & pick the delicious fruit when grafted onto a semi-dwarfing rootstock. Partially self-fertile, this variety is best grown with another to ensure good pollination.
