A beautifully smooth, rounded vodka made by the same Japanese company which produces the acclaimed Nikka whisky.
Crafted from a mixture of corn & barley, this vodka is distilled in a Coffey still (a type of column still that revolutionised spirits production in the 1800s) & then filtered with white birch charcoal for exceptional balance & a mellow texture. ...
Blended from a combination of Coffey Grain, lightly peated Miyagikyo Single Malt & a small proportion of Coffey Malt & Yoichi Single Malt, this highly versatile whisky will please new whisky drinkers & connoisseurs alike.

Floral with a sweet & sour palate heading to a dry & spicy finish. Miyagikyo is located on the island of Honshu to the west of the city of Sendai, two hours by high-speed train to the northeast of Tokyo. Built in the foothills of the Miyagi prefecture, at the heart of a region famous for its waterfalls & many hot springs, the distillery is a true haven of peace. After three years of research, this site was chosen for its pure air & high humidity levels, ideal for ageing in barrels. The environment is similar to that of the Cairngorms region in the heart of Scotl&. Only the cherry trees remind you that you are indeed thousands of miles from the Highlands. The contrast between this green leafy environment & the ultramodern distillery is striking. Here everything or practically everything is computer-operated. The malt is imported from Scotland or Australia. The barrels are stored in traditional cellars with just two floors, as the distillery is situated in the middle of an earthquake zone. Miyagikyo, using large stills, produces a spirit that is rich & fruity with elegant aromas. In 1998, a grain distillery with two coffey type stills - four columns in total - was built on the same site as the malt distillery. One of the two stills dates from the 19th century. It is a real museum piece. This magnificent copper column produces traditional grain whisky from maize & not wheat, as is often the case now in Scotl&. ...
This is a single malt from the Miyagikyo distillery, Nikka's second distillery built in 1969. The founder Masataka Taketsuru chose this site in the mountains of Sendai to contrast with his first distillery, Yoichi, located in the coastal area.
Using less peaty malt & distilled in a pot still heated by indirect steam, Miyagikyo single malt has an elegant fruitiness & a distinctive aroma with a strong Sherry cask influence. ...
One of Nikka's classic brands, the Super Nikka was introduced to the market in 1962.
Its luxuriant aroma, gentle hints of peat & scent of vanilla & chocolate are all in harmony, & its flavour is smooth, rounded & well-balanced. ...
This is a blended malt named in honour of Masataka Taketsuru, the father of Japanese whisky.
He is the first Japanese who mastered whisky-making in Scotland & produced the genuine whisky in Japan. Masataka learned that the natural resources surrounding a distillery were essential for quality whisky. Based on his thought, he selected two places, Yoichi & Miyagikyo, & built two distilleries there.
Its gentle malt flavour, fruitiness & extremely well-balanced taste make it a perfect entry point into the world of Nikka. ...
1 bottle per customer.
Tasting notes: Citrus aromas, orange & pear initially greet the nose & evolve into light herbaceous notes, subtle peat & grapefruit. Round & delicate on the palateit shows cereal, cardamom & candied fruit flavours. Slight but discreet bitterness comes along with some peatiness reminiscent of a full-bodied dark chocolate.
A homage to Nikkas founder, Masataka Taketsuru, the father of Japanese whisky.
Taketsuru Pure Malt is a blended malt named after Nikkas founder, a disciplined craftsman whow as constant in his pursuit of perfection - a characteristic Nikka is pursuing to this day.
The new releasere places the previous Pure Malt expression which was discontinued in early 2020 & reflects much more the historic style of the Taketsuru blend.
The whisky is a blend of aged single malt casks from Yoichi & Miyagikyo distilleries & showcases an exquisite balance of softness & complexity. Miyagikyo remains prominent but a higher proportion of Yoichi is used in this new edition. The liquid is aged in ex-sherry & Miyagikyo remade casks.
The Taketsuru logo, founders signature & brand emblem are all present on the bottle, displaying the authenticity & tradition of this superb whisky. ...
Malty, soft & well-balanced, this expression portrays our gratitude to the heritage.

The honorable golden emblem engraved was designed by Masataka Taketsuru for his very first Nikka whisky bottle. ...
