Named after one of the previous owners of the Old Kilbeggan Distillery, Lockes 8 Year Old Single Malt is a combination of Cooleys finest Single Malts in a special bottling to celebrate one of the famous names in Irish whiskey history. John Locke was at the forefront of the Irish whiskey industry during the golden years & we believe this bottling of Single Malt does his name proud. The combination of predominately Non-Peated Malt with a little Peated Malt results in a beautiful crafted Single Malt that gives this whiskey an amazing range of tastes with honey, oak, fruit & peat all present. Lockes 8 Year Old has limited distribution outside of Irel&. This celebration of Irish whiskeys glory years has recently been awarded both a gold medal & best in class at the IWSC 2009. Nose: Full flavoured nose bulging with big fruit-barley character. Oaky traces from the oldest of Cooleys malts. Taste: The barley is big & succulent. There is a copper-tanginess followed by a dry fruity flavour. Finish: The malt is nothing short of enormous & with a tanginess character. The minimum 8 year old oak passes leaving a vanilla essence & peaty finish. Serving Suggestions: Lockes 8 Year old Single Malt can be served neat, on the rocks, or with a little water to taste. A very enjoyable dram to be enjoyed after lunch.
