The Extra de Grande Champagne bottle is an original decanter, designed & blown for Delamain. The shield on the decanter comes from an original plate made by Henry Delamain in 1762 at his delftware factory in Dublin for the wedding of his nephew James Delamain to Marie Ranson. Matured in well seasoned Limousin oak, Delamains Extra de Grande Champagne is older than Pale & Dry XO & Vesper XO. Showing deep maturity & a full-bodied bouquet, it is the perfect expression of an old Cognac from Grande Champagne. Brilliant amber topaz with a wonderful soft golden clarity. The palate is full, deep, mature & mellow with a powerful perfume & length of fragrance. ...

Delamain's vintage Cognacs originate from the Grande Champagne district, the central part & the first growth of the Cognac appellation. These spirits mature more slowly & achieve greater longevity than Cognacs from the surrounding districts, & develop greater finesse & delicacy. The Grande Champagne 1960 was the first vintage to be secured in Delamain's old vintages cellar; the first bottling was drawn from it at the end of 1992. The Grande Champagne Cognacs from prior vintages are from casks which have been kept in Delamain's cellars since shortly after their distillation, & the oldest of these have been transferred from cask to glass demijohn to arrest their maturation. This cellar is strictly controlled by the BNIC. Situated in Jarnac, on the banks of the Charente river, it benefits from an ideal degree of hygrometry for the ageing of Cognacs. These Cognacs are acquired almost without exception from bouilleurs de cru, small growers who vinify the wines from their vineyards & themselves distil the wine into Cognac. Delamain & Co. is pleased to offer these Cognacs of extraordinary rarity, quality & absolute genuineness. The bouquet is characterised by undergrowth & chocolate notes, enhanced by apricot & orange aromas. On the palate, its aromatic complexity & its power are developing into a lingering liquorice & fruity finish. ...

Nose: Figs, ripe cherries, walnuts, almonds. 7$67 (: Rich & fruity with lively spicy notes. ), 1, 6+ Long & lingering, with vanilla Very few cognacs are made from a single vintage. Most, necessarily, include Eaux-de-vie from several vintages & terroirs in order to achieve consistency & balance. Delamain, however, is one of an exclusive number of houses, authorized to produce Vintage cognacs. Every year small lots of these Vintage cognacs are chosen for bottling, one cask after another when we are certain that they have fulfilled their promise of perfection. The Delamain Vintage 1979 is a 40-year-old, single-vineyard cognac from the hamlet of Malaville at the heart of the Grande Champagne region. The 1979 is a wonderfully complex cognac, rich & rounded. The small number of bottles from this vintage, only 238, will not & cannot ever be replaced. ...

The nose is exuberant despite its venerable age; intense & assertive aromas, yet so tender, as to be irresistible. On the palate Le Trs Vnr is full, mellow & deeply mature. Intense fruitiness gives way to a subtle but linger-ing sensation of liquorice. The finish is exquisitely balanced, each characteristic is perfectly matched by its exact opposite; it is a cognac for the connoisseur. Of the cognacs in the Delamain range, it is Le Trs Vnr whose character is most etched by the gifts of time. This blend of extremely old Grande Champagne cognacs has benefitted from maximum barrel ageing. It expresses all the nobility of the truly great eaux-de-vie when they reach the peak of their development. Le Trs Vnr is a creation at the peak of its potential & is the fullest expression of the art of cog-nac. Each cognac is kept separately during ageing using well-seasoned Limousin oak. At the end of this ageing period, casks of the cognac are blended together based on their origin and/or quality. Once blended the cognac is then aged for a further 2 years, a process also known as marraige. It is perfectly balanced & still crisp & fresh despite its age. ...
