Foxdenton's first Distilled Gin rather than a London Dry Gin.
By making a distilled gin, Foxdenton have been able to work on a strong new flavour at a lower ABV of 40% in the same way as Hendricks with their distilled gin.
They focused on botanicals from an English Country garden, so to the 6 botanicals in the Foxdenton 48, they have also added Elderflower, Thyme & Lemon Verbena.
This has added a hint of sweetness & beautiful herb notes to an already smooth juniper-forward gin ...
The Goliath- 4.5 litres of pleasure. A gallon of fruit gin & possibly the world's largest bottle of fruit Gin. To the eye. This Sloe gin is paler than others. Foxdenton don't add any colourants so the paleness is a result of the way they treat their Sloes & that its all natural. On the nose, this Sloe Gin is quite ginny. Foxdenton Sloe Gin is appreciably drier. They use less sugar so the end result is less like a liqueur but is still very easy to drink. ...
Made with Wild Sloes & a British Blackberries, this season Liqueur captures the flavour of the British Countryside in all its Autumnal glory.

The process of producing a London dry gin with the perfect flavour is more complicated than with other gins. Regulations surrounding the production dictate that nothing may be added to London Dry Gin after distillation. The flavour of botanicals will change in the distillation process so Fox Denton disconvered a unique combination of botanicals which was an extremely time consuming process as every trial batch needed to be distilled from scratch. In other gins where flavouring agents are added after distillation the discovery process is immediate. However, as Fox Denton were making a London Dry Gin, a protected designation, any such additions after distillation were not allowed. They were only allowed to use natural flavourings & they chose to use organic botanicals only. IWSC 2011, Silver Medal & Best in Class. Big, booming nose that gives everything a London Dry should do but more at the strength. Super active entry into the mouth yet gorgeously deep & mellow. All the flavour you could want in wonderful integration. Complexity gives super smoothness & velvet flow while retaining the lively character. Complex, long, refreshing finish. Aftertaste lasts for ever! ...
