After eleven years of coupled-up domesticity, Rory Carmichael is single for the first time in her adult life. Even she would admit that her ex-boyfriend Martin wasn't the most exciting man in the world -- let's face it, his idea of a rocking night was one spent updating his Excel spreadsheets -- but Rory could rely on him &, having watched her mother rack up four turbulent marriages, that's what matters. But when she discovers that her supposedly reliable Mr Right is a distinctly unreliable cheater, she's forced to consider the possibility that everything she knows about relationships is wrong. In an effort to reinvigorate both her love life & her lacklustre career at posh magazine Country House, she sets herself a mission to date as many unsuitable men as possible. Toyboys. Sugar daddies. Fauxmosexuals. Maybe the bad boys she's never dated can show her what she's been missing in life. But if Mr Right can turn out to be so wrong, maybe one of her Mr Wrongs will turn out to be just right.. . ...

The UK was shocked to its core in May 2012 when a gang of nine men was convicted of the systematic sexual abuse of disadvantaged teenage girls in the Rochdale area
- the crimes including counts of rape, aiding & abetting rape, sexual assault & trafficking girls within the UK for sexual exploitation. Yet many childcare experts reckon these crimes are just the tip of an iceberg of wide scale exploitation occurring across the country. The Deputy Children's Commissioner Sue Berelowitz said in June 2012 that there 'isn't a town, village or hamlet in which children are not being sexually exploited'. As this book goes to press, a gang of men similar to those convicted in Rochdale stands trial for similar crimes in Oxford. What is happening in Britain that means young vulnerable girls can be exploited in this way? Award-winning journalist Kris Hollington tells the inside story of some of the most shocking & heartbreaking crimes of recent years, focusing on the Rochdale case but also analysing recent cases in the London area that have echoes of the brutality of organised slavery

This is Jared's story... Have you ever been so angry that hitting things felt good? Or numb to all emotions? The past few years have been like that for me. Traveling between fury & indifference with no stops in between. Some people hate me for it, while others are scared of me. But none of them can hurt me, because I don't care about anything or anyone. Except Tatum. I love her so much that I hate her. I hate that I can't let her go. We used to be friends, but I found out that I couldn't trust her or anyone else. So I hurt her. I pushed her away. But I still need her. She centers me. Engaging, challenging, bullying her-it's the last part of me that feels anything human. But then she went & screwed everything up. She left for a year & came back a different girl. Now, when I push, she pushes back. It is  Summer 1918 and young couple  Amy and  Edmond Derwent, after their experiences on the front line of battle
- Edmond as an officer & Amy as a VAD in France
- have now settled back in England & are starting to build a life as a family, with the arrival of baby  Beth bringing them much-needed joy.

The Great War rages on, & while the men are off fighting, those left at home steel themselves for tragic news, praying that their loved ones return safely.

Edmond, still struggling with the effects of the injury he sustained at Ypres, feels the guilt of remaining at home while his friends are sent into battle.

But life at Larchbury is not without its own problems
- as food becomes scarce, & the Spanish Influenza causes deaths throughout Engl&, tragedy strikes closer to home & it seems no one is safe from heartbreak.

Can Amy & Edmond keep their love strong, even in a world crumbling all around them?
