North America 1969-1972 Alan Pegler bought Flying Scotsman from BR in 1963 and six years later he decided to take his locomotive on a promotional tour to North America. This film contains magnificent footage, much of which has never been seen, showing Flying Scotsman being shipped over to America in 1969 as well as dramatic action as the locomotive makes its way from Boston to New York. There are also lovely scenes of No.4472 in full steam heading from Washington down to Atlanta, Georgia. Australia 1988-1989 In 1988 Sir William McAlpine took Flying Scotsman to Australia where it covered over 28, 000 miles and travelled to every state. The locomotive was there to help celebrate Australia
