David Fairclough started just 92 games in an eight year Liverpool career yet his standing as one of the most famous goalscorers in the club’s illustrious history is without question.

Another 66 appearances as substitute boosted his Anfield career total & it was for his role as Liverpool’s number 12 for which he is best remembered.

Fairclough was, & always will be, the original ‘ Supersub’.

Yet it is a moniker he loved & loathed in equal measure & one he felt ultimately held him back in his career.

In this refreshingly candid autobiography Fairclough relives the highs & lows of a colourful career.

He recalls his meteoric rise to stardom & the priceless contribution he made to the Liverpool’s remarkable success under Bob Paisley. From his key role against St Etienne on arguably Anfield’s greatest night, through a career that witnessed 19 major trophies, Fairclough lifts the lid on what life was really like for him in the Anfield dressing room of that time, his often fraught relationship with Paisley & explains the psychological burden of being cast as ‘the outsider looking in’.

In an evocative collaboration with journalist Mark Platt, Fairclough’s story is at once a compelling insight into one of the greatest teams in football history, populated by the great players whom David played with & against, & the gripping & characteristically honest memoir of one of Liverpool’s most popular sons.

Ideal for football fans.

Born the son of a Billingsgate market porter at the height of the Second World War, David Jason spent his early life dodging bombs & bullies, both with impish good timing. Giving up on an unloved career as an electrician, he turned his attention to acting & soon, through a natural talent for making people laugh, found himself working with the leading lights of British comedy in the 1960s & '70s: Eric Idle, Michael Palin, Bob Monkhouse & Ronnie Barker. Barker would become a mentor to David, leading to hugely successful stints in Porridge & Open All Hours.

It wasn’t until 1981, kitted out with a sheepskin jacket, a flat cap, & a clapped-out Reliant Regal, that David found the part that would capture the nation’s hearts: the beloved Derek ‘ Del Boy’ Trotter in Only Fools & Horses. Never a one-trick pony, he had an award-winning spell as TV’s favourite detective Jack Frost.

David’s is a touching, funny & warm-hearted story, which charts the course of his incredible five decades at the top of the entertainment business. He's been a shopkeeper & a detective inspector, a crime-fighter & a market trader, & he ain't finished yet. As Del Boy would say, it's all cushty.

Perfect for Only Fools & Horses fans!

Product Description

'' So lithe, ' they say. ' So spry & sparkling. So uncannily youthful. How on earth do you do it?'

Well, what can I tell you? An hour of tai chi first thing in the morning, an HIIT work-out with my personal trainer, a bowl of steamed kale & a handful of almonds for lunch, & then two hours of yoga in the afternoon followed by an ice bath
- this is a routine which I'm sure would work miracles for anyone of any age, although I can't be entirely sure because I haven't myself adopted any aspect of it at any point.

Fortunately, during my life & career I have been given all sorts of advice & learned huge amounts from some great & enormously talented people.

I've been blessed to play characters such as Derek Trotter, Granville, Pop Larkin & Frost, who have changed my life in all sorts of ways, & taught me lessons that go far beyond the television set.

& I've worked a few things out for myself as well, about friendship, ambition, rejection, success, failure, adversity & fortune.

With any luck, some of these thoughts & observations will chime with episodes & challenges you have faced, or are facing, in your own life. & if they don't... well, hopefully, at the very least you'll get to have a good old laugh at my expense.

So lean back, pour yourself a glass, & try not to fall through the bar flap...'

Delve into the hilariously funny but deeply heartfelt autobiography of the national treasure that is David Jason
- a must-have read for all those who truly adore Del boy.
