Dracula recalls the experiences of a young lawyer called Jonathan Harker, who pays a visit to Count Dracula on the border of Transylvania to deal with the purchase of some property.

After Harker leaves Draculas castle, having nearly been the victim of vampires, a Russian ship runs aground off Whitby & the captains log details the gradual disappearance of the crew. Meanwhile, Lucy Westenra, who lives in Whitby, begins to sleepwalk & suffer bouts of dementia.

Despite attempts to save her, Lucy is found dead. Evidence points to Dracula & the race is on to defeat him before he gains control over more victims.

This Wordsworth Edition

Includes::
an exclusive introduction & notes by Dr David Rogers, Kingston University.

‘ There he lay looking as if youth had been half-renewed, for the white hair & moustache were changed to dark iron-grey, the cheeks were fuller, & the white skin seemed ruby-red underneath; the mouth was redder than ever, for on the lips were gouts of fresh blood, which trickled from the corners of the mouth & ran over the chin & neck.

Even the deep, burning eyes seemed set amongst the swollen flesh, for the lids & pouches underneath were bloated. It seemed as if the whole awful creature were simply gorged with blood; he lay like a filthy leech, exhausted with his repletion.’

Thus Bram Stoker, one of the greatest exponents of the supernatural narrative, describes the demonic subject of his chilling masterpiece Dracula, a truly iconic & unsettling tale of vampirism.

Ideal for:
One of the most powerful horror tales, Dracula is a classic piece of fiction that will scare you to the core.

This paperback book has 352 pages & measures: 19.7 x 12.9 x 1.7cm.
