75cl / 12% - In the days of the Iron Curtain and Cold War, Michael Wenzel’s father and grandfather smuggled historic clones of Furmint grapes from Hungary. Now widely-known as the pioneer of this grape in Austria, the winery uses this varietal along with Blaufrankish grapes for this wine. On the nose there are aromas of red berries, thyme and rosemary, with a hint of leather and black cherry, complemented by notes of grippy bright fruit and fresh blackcurrant leaf on the palate.
