Caol Ila 1979 / 40 Year Old / Xtra Old Particular Islay Whisky
70cl / 50.1% / Douglas Laing - A 1979 Caol Ila single malt from indie bottler Douglas Laing, matured in a single refill hogshead for four decades, before being bottled in November 2019 as part if its Xtra Old Particular series. Maritime aromas of seaweed, damp driftwood and ashy smoke fill the nose, complemented by chimney soot, iodine, sweet barley and rich peat smoke throughout the palate.
