Tahmdhu 10 Year Old Islay single malt Scotch whisky. From a single a refill sherry hogshead 610 distilled 2001. For the Gordon & Mac Phail Cask Strength range. Tamdhu Tamdhu Distillery was founded in 1896, designed by Charles Doig & opened in 1897 in Scotland’s Speyside whisky region. Tamdhu Distillery was originally equipped with two stills which increased to four in 1972 & then six in 1975 in order to cope with the ever increasing demand for Famous Grouse & Cutty Sark blends of scotch to which Tamdhu was a major contributor. When the nearby railway station closed in 1965 the ticket office was subsequently converted into the Tamdhu Distillery visitor centre & the distillery became a founding member of the Speyside Whisky Trail. But the Tamdhu Distillery visitor centre closed & then Tamdhu Distillery itself in March 2010 & with it the last working Saladin malting boxes in Scotl&. A year later & Ian Macleod Distillers purchased Tamdhu Distillery, & thus its working life is assured. Nose: Rum & raisin notes, with a rounded hint of sweet Sherry. Some marzipan emerges & hints of tropical fruits linger. Palate: A smooth & creamy palate, which reveals a warming burst of mixed spices, followed by a sweet Sherry influence & delicate summer fruit flavours.
