4th & final release of a series of four single casks to celebrate the achievements & influences of Glenglassaugh distillery managers during the period 1964-86. The Walter Grant release is limited to 200 individually numbered bottles from a refill sherry hogshead filled in May 1967. Glenglassaugh Glenglassaugh Distillery is a Highland malt whisky distillery situated at Sandend Bay near Portsoy on the Banffshire coast with views north over the Moray Firth & the North Sea & is one of just a very few truly coastal Highland malt whisky distilleries. Glenglassaugh Distillery was established by James Moir & opened in 1875 on a site between the remains of Glassaugh windmill constructed in 1762 & the Craig Corn Mills. In an ideal location with barley & soft Speyside water to hand & sea breezes to pervade the distillery’s warehouses. When Glassaugh Station opened on the Moray Coastal Railway in 1884 Glenglassaugh Distillery gained speedy access the whisky blenders down south. This distillery was substantially re-built in 1959 & re-opened in 1960 only to closed in 1986. Glenglassaugh Distillery was purchased by the Scaent Group & back in production in December 2008. Visitors are welcomed at Glenglassaugh Distillery & tours are available by appointment. Nose: Rich, red apples, ripe bananas, creme Brule, caramelised sugar & lots of sweet sherry oak. Glengoyne Glengoyne Distillery was established as Burnfoot of Drumgoyne Distillery in 1833 by George Connel in Scotland’s Highland whisky region although its warehouses rest across the road in the Lowland whisky region. All the malt is dried by hot air & so all Glengoyne whisky is unpeated & on site maturation is in sherry & bourbon casks in addition to some Japanese & Scottish oak casks.
