Matured in refill sherry hogsheads. Gordon & Mac Phail bottling of the lost distillery. Convalmore Convalmore Distillery was founded in 1893 & commenced production of Speyside malt whisky the following year. Convalmore joined the James Buchanan blending empire & together they coped admirably with prohibition. A continuous sill was installed in 1909 & produced malt whisky until 1915 when it was removed & was replaced by four pot stills. The tall square four stage still house which housed Convalmore’s continuous still is still standing & is one of only two remaining in Scotl&, the other is at the site of Kirkliston Distillery near Edinburgh. The distillery closed in 1985 & whilst the buildings are still standing all the equipment has been removed & so Convalmore Distillery is one of Speyside’s lost malt whisky distilleries. A medium bodied whisky with peppery fruitiness.
