The knotting & patterning of the deep yellow & red Briar wood is enchanting to look at. To complete the set, we have added our beautiful large 4 inch Madrid chessmen in rare Red Sandalwood, a deep red that compliments the dark red knots found in the board. The Madrid series chessmen are another fine example from The Regency Chess Company. Finely crafted from graded red sandalwood & boxwood, triple weighted & with a baize base. This lovely design lends more detail than the standard Staunton look with a slight Byzantine feel. The double recess below the shank of each piece is highly distinctive & is one of the features that makes this set so distinctive.
