With its fine citrussy fragrances & crisp, minerally attack, this delightful wine makes a lovely partner for seafood & fish dishes, especially meaty fish like swordfish & juicy, firm scallops. There's a hint of herb & pine nut to the wine, which makes it an interesting match for pesto with pasta, or else try it with chicken cooked in aromatic herbs. Although Vermentino now grows throughout Sardinia, the grape expresses itself best in Gallura in the north, an area of harsh, minerally-rich soils that is incessantly swept by the fierce Mistral wine. While this is not conducive to most agricultural production, these conditions are great for causing vines to create grapes of wonderful potential. Brilliant straw yellow in colour with greenish tints. On the nose it has a perfumed bouquet suggesting golden apple & melon aromas, a steely, minerally backnote & scents of toasted pine nuts & basil. In the mouth it is rich but dry, with gentle acidity & minerally depth balancing soft flavours of sweet almond, dried herbs & apple.
