Taut, thirst-quenching & almost âsavoury' in character, Picpoul de Pinet is the perfect match for all kinds of seafood. Pair it with fresh oysters & you'll be in seafood heaven. Partner it with mussels, brandade or fresh anchovies & rejoice. Try it with a plate of linguine, crab, chilli & garlic & elevate âhumble' into a gastronomic feast. Chateau de la Mirande is situated in the heart of the Picpoul de Pinet appellation, close to Castelnau-de-Guers & not far from the Bassin de Thau, a salt-water lagoon dedicated to the cultivation of oysters & mussels. Its vineyard are interspersed with Mediterranean garrigue, wild shrubland that's rich with a thousand different scents. Pale & sparkling in appearance, with a bouquet suggesting roasted aniseed, green fruits, white flowers & touch of pine. In the mouth it is refreshingly watery & bright, with an ample, prickly feel that offers flavours of sea salt & iodine backed with yellow plum & crisp white pepper. A unique & very delicious wine.
