Bursting with tangy fruit, liquorice notes & a savoury âwildness', this vibrant malbec is a real treat for the dinner table. Eschewing the often prevalent âchocolate cake' style of many Argentinean malbecs, this example is more akin to a feisty Italian sangiovese. Try pairing it with tomato-based meat dishes, garlic-marinated steaks & roasted wild boar. Bodega Cecchin are based in Maipu, just outside of Mendoza, where most of their 75 hectares of vines are located. This is very much an artisan winery, one that eschews the use of chemicals in the vineyards, works with horses rather than tractors, & favours the use of wild yeasts in the winery to achieve the âtrue expression of our terroir. Slightly opaque, dark purplish-red in the glass, followed on the nose by a vibrant array of sour cherry, raspberry & tangy redcurrant aromas, with notes of liquorice & a savoury, âgreen stalk' quality behind this. In the mouth it is bright & clean, with good acidity propelling the savoury fruit & tannins on. Great balance & depth of flavour.
