The root sections are individually selected & then cut & shaped to make the eye-catching support. This is then finished to a smooth aspect throughout with a light resin finish applied. The glass top is just over a centimetre thick & tempered for regular use. Teak Root at a glance: This beautiful timber has fantastic character & the reclaimed root sections have huge rustic appeal as well. It is far superior to any other timber, particularly when used outdoors due to an abundance of natural oils & a very dense grain. In time the natural ageing process will turn the root section a silver-grey patina which will add to the overall character in general. A Teak Reindeer for Christmas … We already sell reclaimed teak elephants so we thought we’d go all out for Christmas & get the teak reindeers in as well … As with all our reclaimed items the quality of workmanship is fantastic & the realism shines through in the make-up of the whole. Even down to the smoothed ends on the antlers & the way the tail extends away from the body section. Being teak wood they’re perfect for outdoor use because the oily, dense qualities shine through as they do with teak furniture in general. Perhaps the best thing is, though, it’s environmentally friendly as well due to the fact that all the timber is sourced from pre-used building materials from old boats & houses, etc meaning that you are helping to reduce de-forestation overseas when you purchase one. Each one is, by the very nature of the way it’s made, unique to you & won’t look out of place in the garden outside the festive season. In fact, over time the teak will age & go a lovely silver-grey patina adding a new dimension to the reindeer completely.
