Skilled, local crafts people in Thailand lovingly reclaim pieces of teak from redundant Ox-Carts & Fence Posts, & then re-use these individual parts for the construction of individual pieces of furniture like this bench set. This makes each piece, by the very nature of its construction, unique to you.. . Remnants of the teaks previous uses can be seen in the completed bench set

The Indonesian island province of Bali is famous for its colourful & intricate canoe designs that have been produced by local populations as working vessels for many years. In recent years, as these fishing vessels have come to the end of their useful working existence a trend has arisen amongst local crafts people to turn them into bespoke pieces of furniture that have proved hugely popular, largely in western markets. You’ll be the talk of family & friends … This reclaimed Canoe Bar has to be one of the most unusual examples of this – there’s even a pull-out shelf when extra space is needed. The canoe has been cut down half its length, three quarters of the way through its depth. The open section at the top has then been filled in with a flat platform & the resulting compartment beneath has been used to its full potential as a space for various bar facilities like pull-out draws, bottle compartments & grooved spaces for hanging glasses. Suitable for use both indoors & out … Previous uses in the wood can still be seen & these offer a great talking point to wonder at how these first came to be. The vibrant colours so indicative of Balinese canoes are still apparent across the design as well. For practical purposes, the whole thing is mounted on a chunky & ornate base.
