It’s purposefully built to look irregular from individually chosen pieces of reclaimed teak from old Ox-Carts & the like in Northern Thail&. The low-set chairs look great with their contrasting high backs & are really comfortable when sat on – even without a cushion. You can even see the original mortice-holes round the edge of the table that’s made from old fence posts … Obviouslythe set has an aged feel when it is first h&-crafted- all parts are individually chosen, & shaped where necessary, to provide the functionality – the rest is left to the spirit of the original timber. The set is h&-crafted in Northern Thailand & is of the highest quality meaning it’s very dense & oily – perfect for outdoor use & the crafts-people tell us it works & finishes supremely well. - from old Ox-Carts & the like – individually chosen to fit the design by expert crafts people in Northern Thail&. The low-set chairs are really comfortable – even without a cushion – & the high backs with square hoes running down them look really attractive. Remnants of previous usage are still evident in many pieces of the reclaimed teak – the fence posts used in the table top, for instance … All pieces of timber are aged to varying degrees but still have that dense, oily resistance to the elements present in the highest grades of teak as standard. The spirit of the original timber is evident throughout – even in the pieces that have been worked to fit the design. Genuine 20th Century Antiques … There’s an abundance of reclaimed teak across Thailand & this is now commonly used in furniture making. This process reduces the need to harvest timber from the forest which, in turn, reduces de-forestation & environmental concerns. The angled hollow back & rounded top support along with the wide seating area are smoothly hand finished & supported by long tapered legs. Not your run of the mill bar stool … Bottom leg supports run around the base to give it a robust stance & added suitability for regular use. Perfect for finishing off either our Folding Bar Set or Reclaimed Teak Fixed Bar which both have a very unique character of their own. The teak is genuinely reclaimed from unused ox-carts, fence posts & railway sleepers in Thailand & then worked & shaped into the chair you see here by expert, time served craftspeople. All jointed areas in the timber are finished using hand cut mortice & tenon joints for ultimate strength throughout. The teak itself has a light wash finish & remnants of the timbers previous use can still be seen in it to great effect. The dense, oily nature of the teak make it perfect for outdoor use offering natural protection from the elements all year round with the ageing process naturally turning it a silver grey colour.
