Tomatoes originated in north and central South America. When they fi rst came to our shores the red berries were considered poisonous. Today they are regarded as both tasty and healthy. They contain lycopene; an antioxidant reputed to help protect against certain cancers. This variety is stripy and great for stuffing. Culture: Sow in pots or trays in a propagator on a windowsill or in a greenhouse at approx. 18-21°C (65-70°F) using a good quality, moist compost. Cover seeds with 6mm (½") of sieved compost. (Germination 8-11 days). Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle, singly, into 7.5cm (3") pots. Grow on and plant out 45cm (18") apart in grow bags or border soil during May-June. Side shoot and trim as necessary. Best grown in a greenhouse or conservatory. Height 1.8m
