Cucumbers are thought to have originated in India over 3, 000 years ago. They were cultivated extensively in Roman times when they were used to treat scorpion bites, blindness and even to deter mice! They were also thought to be a fertility symbol. Culture: Sow in a propagator on a windowsill or in a greenhouse at approx. 15-20°C (60-68°F) using a good quality compost. Sow one seed, on edge, per 75mm (3") pot to save root disturbance when planting out after risk of frost has passed. Cover seed with 13mm (½") compost (Germination 6-9 days). Can also be sown direct outside at a depth of 13mm (½"), thinning to 60cm (24") between plants each way. Water and feed regularly during periods of dry weather.. Average Packet Contents 25 seeds.... .
