Origin - Southern Asia. Height 40cm (16). HHA - Half hardy annual.Ornamental Corn - Zea means cause of life, and mays our mother. Maize originated in Central America. Legend tells how it was first discovered in a mountain by small animals. The gods opened the mountain with a thunderbolt to let in the humans. This turned the white maize yellow, red and blue. White kernels represent the sky and black the earth. In some traditional cultures blue corn is said
to be the most sacred and red the most powerful. Asarina - This beautiful climber has exquisite snapdragon-like flowers. Watch how its sensitive leaf stalks cling to supports. As it originates in southern USA and Mexico, it is best grown as an annual in the conservatory, greenhouse or in a container on a sunny patio. It also looks great trailing from hanging baskets.Bell Vine - This Mexican climber has sensitive leaf stalks which twine round any convenient support.
