Gage (Prunus) Old Green Gage The Old Greengage may have plain green plums but they are exceptionally sweet & juicy & perfect when eaten straight from the tree. A much-favoured variety with an old fashioned sweet taste, perfect for homemade jam making. Originally brought to the UK from France over three hundred years ago. A hardy partially self-fertile deciduous tree best grown with another variety nearby to act as a pollinator. Prefers a sheltered sunny location. Prefers a sheltered sunny location. VVA1
