Well known as the Fiddle-leaf Fig, this elegant house plant is grown for its impressive foliage. Each leaf is stiff & has a leathery feel with a distinctive curved shape & pale, prominent veins. Ficus lyrata ' Compacta' is a luscious evergreen, with a lovely glossy sheen that reflects light beautifully. Although it grows relatively slowly, if given the right growing conditions it will ultimately form a tall, slender specimen that will be a fine focal point for your home. Ficus lyrata ' Compacta' needs plenty of bright light which is why it is a good choice for a conservatory or bright living room. If it is getting insufficient amounts of light it will start to shed its leaves. Keep away from radiator & cold draughts also. The best temperature should be between 16C (60F) & 24C (75F). Water well between the spring & autumn. Let the surface of the soil dry out each time. In the winter reduce the amount of watering but do not let it dry out completely. Feed between March & September.
