' Cornuti' produce vigorous climbing plants that will cover a fence or trellis with ease. Happily growing outside in a typical UK summer, they will produce more than 100 fruit from a single plant. The fruit can be harvested from olive to golf ball-sized & are covered in little horns. Don't worry though, these aren't sharp, but soft & rubbery in texture & in any case will break down completely when cooked. Larger fruit may need the seeds removing, but small ones can be eaten whole. Harvest late August-Octobers. Height 200-250cm (79-98); spread 150-200cm (59-79). James says
- Ridiculously easy to grow, the fruit is crisp & watery when raw, much like a cucumber/courgette cross, but really come into their own when fried, sautéed or baked, shrinking down & intensifying in flavour, until they taste almost identical to roast green peppers. They are also great to pickle when small.
