The wooden Japanese Puzzle Box is a traditional curiosity which has entertained generations. Unfortunately the making of the boxes is so labour-intensive, & Japanese wages are so high, that they have more or less priced themselves out of Western markets & are rarely seen. We would hardly claim ours to be 'cheap', but they come direct from the manufacturer at the lowest price we can economically achieve. The Japanese Puzzle box is beautifully finished with the original mosaic design, a covetable thing just on the basis of its appearance. The top, bottom, & both two-section ends must be gently slid in the prescribed sequence & direction nine times before the lid can finally be persuaded to open. lllustrated instructions are provided. It's something to treasure & marvel at for a life-time! ...

' Snow White & the Seven Dads' should give some indication of the content, with current cultural references giving a new slant to the familiar stories. Welcome to a world where ' Little Red Riding Hood' throws stones at fairies & the ' Crack Piper of Camden' is mistakenly enlisted to rid the town of rats. Seventeen stories receive the 'asbo' treatment, including ' The Butt-ugly Duckling', ' The Princess & the Oven Chip' & ' Blingerella'. It's all very amusing for the cynically minded
- obviously the adult humour makes these fairy tales unsuitable for children.

We have all heard the excuse 'the dog ate my homework' & unfortunately, being over used, it has lost its effectiveness. Perhaps it's now time for some new excuses; from the obscure to the downright stupid, this book has them all. It reads like a work of fiction because some of the excuses are so strange, but all are drawn from real life situations. For example, one train was delayed because there was a giant clown on the line & another because a naked man was handcuffed to the luggage rack. People who are consistently late for work would enjoy chapter two & if sporting prowess doesn't come naturally, the excuses in chapter eight might be useful. Highly entertaining
- you couldn't make it up!

A Germie looks like a cross little bug. Covered in rubbery spines & waggling eight bobble-ended arms, this air-filled character has an infectious appeal. He should probably have a Germie name such as ' Boris Bacteria' or ' Vincent Virus'. He can be squeezed & stretched to make his features bulge & distort for an even more monster-like appearance. Great for lots of squishy squashy fun & also good for games of catch, as he is weighty enough but very, very soft. Order more than one to receive a selection. ...
