Wellington in 1901 in a fascinating series of reproductions of old Ordnance Survey plans in the Alan Godfrey Editions, ideal for anyone interested in the history of their neighbourhood or family. The map provides good coverage of the town. The railway line runs through the centre, with the station in the middle. Features include All Saints` Church, Market Hall, Shropshire Works, Wellington College, St Patricks Church, Smithfield Cattle Market, Shropshire Brewery & Portland Cottage. He had committed a strategic error in that, as Napoleon advanced, his own troops were scattered over a hundred kilometres of southern Belgium. Outnumbered three to one, the Netherlanders gave him time to concentrate his forces, & save Brussels from French occupation.
