Utrechtse Heuvelrug on a waterproof, tear-resistant, GPS compatible walking map at 1:25, 000 from Trage Paden, in a series of maps with extensive overprint for long-distance & local walking routes. GPS waypoints & route profiles are available for download from the publisher’s website. Contours used in this map series vary between 2, 5 to 5m according to the terrain, with 5m interval predominantly used for hilly areas. Varied colouring show different types of landscape: woods, vineyards, fields etc. An overprint highlights both the national long-distance walking routes & the shorter local circular trails, each clearly identified by a code and/or an abbreviation of its name. Recommended starting points for walks are designated by a symbol. Cycle lanes are visibly marked with a bike symbol; roads with heavy traffic are clearly indicated. Symbols indicate various facilities, such as railway & bus stations, coffee shops, campsites, country restaurants/bars, sport & leisure facilities. Maps have the lines of the Dutch National Grid for measuring distances & for determining location using GPS device & they are printed on weather resistant & tear-resistant paper. The maps have contours at 20m intervals, enhanced by relief shading, plus colouring and/or graphics to show different types of terrain, vegetation or land use. Boundaries of national parks & other protected areas are marked. In addition to all the usual information featured on topographic mapping at this scale, detailed presentation of the road & rail networks, rural tracks & paths, etc, the maps also show campsites & mountain refuges. On more recent editions some GRs, the official long-distance hiking routes, are also marked (although not as clearly as on hiking maps from other publishers). Each map covers 29.5x 18.5 km (with adjustments in the border or coastal areas). The maps have a 1-km UTM grid, plus margin ticks for latitude & longitude at 1` intervals. Includes:: an index of localities, street plans of main cities, a distance table & a route planner map of the whole of India. Each title comes with a small booklet with brief descriptions of main places of interest & colour photos. The maps show road & rail networks, indicating intermediate distances on many local roads. Towns & villages of particular tourist interest are highlighted & symbols mark national parks & wildlife sanctuaries, temples, etc. The base map shows rivers, lakes & local waterways system & has spot heights for peaks, but the range of elevation colouring is too finely graded to provide any useful information. No geographical coordinates are marked. The maps show the names & boundaries of local districts, indicating state capitals & district or tehsil administrative headquarters. Outside the state boundaries the colour range of the print is reduced, so only main roads are clearly visible.
