Ever since I was seven years old, I have been convinced that one of the fundamental upsides of being alive is that it gives you the chance to do things like sailing across oceans.. . When marine biologists Mike Litzow & his partner Alisa make a promise to follow their dream to sail from Alaska to Australia, they agree that they won`t leave until their son, Elias, is one year old. When he is nine months, they give up waiting, strap him down & weigh anchor. In his unflinching account of their trip, Mike tells the inspiring story of the stress & exhilaration, the fights & incredible closeness of family life onboard, & the unrelenting fierceness & incredible beauty of the open sea. South From Alaska is a warm, personal & fascinatingly honest account of a family afloat in the Pacific. ` There`s nothing better than going on an adventure with your kids. This story should inspire all of us to make our dreams come true.` Jon Faine
- broadcaster & author of From Here to There. ` As a sailor who raised his daughter aboard, I was touched by this book. Litzow writes from the heart.` Fatty Goodlander

Between 1920 & 1934, Gerald Brenan lived in the remote Spanish village of Yegen, & “ South from Granada” depicts his time there, vividly evoking the essence of his rural surroundings & the Andalucian way of life before the Civil War. He describes the landscapes, festivals & folklore of the Sierra Nevada, the rivalries, romances & courtship rituals, village customs, superstitions & local characters. Fascinating details emerge, from cheap brothels to archaeological remains, along with visits from Brenan’s friends in the Bloomsbury group
- Lytton Strachey & Virginia Woolf among them. Knowledgeable, elegant & sympathetic, this is a rich account of Spain’s vanished past.

South Freiburg

South Freiburg on a topographic map at 1:200, 000 from the Bundesamt für Kartographie und Geodäsie, Germany’s federal mapping agency. The map covers an area of approximately 100 x 90km.This map is belongs to a series of 58 topographic maps from Bundesamt für Kartographie und Geodäsie, the federal cartographic agency of Germany responsible for topographic mapping at 1:200, 000 and maps at smaller scales (the more detailed topographic and leisure maps are prepared and published by the survey organizations of the individual states). Contours are at 12, 5m intervals, enhanced by relief
shading, with colouring for woodlands, moors, marches, vineyards and hop plantations. Waterways and rivers are also described in detail, with currents, waterfalls, dams, and jetties clearly marked. Road network, graded into five types, highlights in colour national and regional roads; no driving distances are marked Railway network is also shown in detail, with stations, goods only lines, etc. The maps show administrative boundaries of states and counties, and have a UTM grid plus margin ticks for latitude and longitude at 2’ intervals. Map legend is in German only. PLEASE NOTE: maps in this series provide an excellent presentation of the areas covered by them, with plenty of place names and detailed representation of the road network, and will appeal to anyone who likes
quality cartography, but they are not necessarily the best option for holiday and business travel. To see other titles in this series please click on the series link.
