A detailed topographic map from the Ordnance Survey Explorer series, covering Poole, Dorchester, Weymouth & Swanage (showing part of the South West Coast Path). Edition B5; Publication date: June 2012 About this series: These highly detailed maps show all the administrative boundaries, settlements as small as isolated farms, the road network down to unfenced roads & country tracks, & field boundaries (hedges & drystone walls) which make navigation across the countryside much easier. Steep gradients on roads are indicated. Various landmarks, e.g. powerlines, archaeological sites, windmills, churches & lighthouses are shown & additional graphics indicate natural terrain features such as cliffs, scree, mud & vegetation variations. The contour interval is 5 metres in the lower parts of the country & 10 metres in the uplands, & spot heights are marked. Each map covers an area of 30 x 20km (i.e. approx. 19 x 12 miles), with some double-sided maps covering more, as indicated in the individual descriptions. The maps are fully GPS compatible, with the National Grid shown at 1km intervals & latitude & longitude indicated by margin ticks at 1'. The Explorer series has replaced the earlier, green-cover Pathfinder maps. The Explorer series is now complete & covers all of Engl&, Wales & Scotl&. Some sheets for popular areas like the National Parks are still branded as Outdoor Leisure (OL) maps, but are now included in this series as the cartography is the same as that in the Explorer Maps. The Explorer maps offer a substantial improvement on the Pathfinder series, with greater use of colour, larger area per map, & stronger emphasis on information for ramblers & tourists. This series is ideal for walking & other outdoor pursuits & each map shows a large amount of information for ramblers & tourists. Public rights of way are shown (except in Scotland), together with other routes with public access: National Trails & Recreational Paths, permitted paths & bridleways, & selected cycle routes. Open access land created under the Countryside & Rights of Way Act 2000 is marked. Tourist information

Includes::
caravan & camp sites, Park & Ride locations, recreation/leisure/sport centres, museums, historic buildings, English Heritage & National Trust sites, rural pubs, etc. The map legend is in English only, except for the tourist information content which is also in French & German.

A year of bones, of grave-dirt, relentless work. Of mummified corpses & chanting priests. A year of rape, suicide, sudden death. Of friendship too. Of desire. Of love...A year unlike any other he has lived. Deep in the heart of Paris, its oldest cemetery is, by 1785, overflowing, tainting the very breath of those who live nearby. Into their midst comes Jean-Baptiste Baratte, a young, provincial engineer charged by the king with demolishing it. At first Baratte sees this as a chance to clear the burden of history, a fitting task for a modern man of reason. But before long, he begins to suspect that the destruction of the cemetery might be a prelude to his own. ...

Creepy. Peculiar. Fairy. Goblin. Liar. Weirdo. Crank. Genius. No one knows what to make of Juliet Slater, not even her mother. & clothes, boys, school, friends, the changing seasons & what other people think
- none of these things seem to matter to Juliet. She spends hours in her room with incomprehensible mathematical text books, her mind voyaging in strange seas of thought, alone. Is she a genius? It might take the rest of her life to find out. While Stella Gibbons was celebrated for her beloved bestseller Cold Comfort Farm, the manuscript for Pure Juliet lay unseen & forgotten until it was brought to light by her family in 2014, & is published here for the first time in Vintage Classics. A tale that travels from an eco-millionaire`s British country idyll to an Arabian Nights-style fantasy of the Middle East, this is a treat for fans of this witty, curious & always surprising author.

Simon Cardoso has been dead for thirty years when his wife, Emilia Dupuy, finds him in a New Jersey diner. Testimonies confirmed that Simon had been one of the thousands of victims of Argentina`s military regime, executed for being a `subversive`; yet this man is identical to the man she lost three decades ago. While skirting around the mystery, Eloy Martinez masterfully peels away layer upon layer of history
- both personal & political. & just as Simon`s disappearance comes to represent the thousands of disappearances that were such a common occurrence during the dictatorship, so Emilia`s refusal to accept his death mirrors the country`s unwillingness to face its reality. The final work of the late Martinez, Purgatory is his most moving, most autobiographical novel.

A magnum opus for our morally complex times from the author of ` Freedom` & ` The Corrections` Young Pip Tyler doesn`t know who she is. She knows that her real name is Purity, that she`s saddled with $130, 000 in student debt, that she`s squatting with anarchists in Oakl&, & that her relationship with her mother
- her only family
- is hazardous. But she doesn`t have a clue who her father is, why her mother chose to live as a recluse with an invented name, or how she`ll ever have a normal life. Enter the Germans. A glancing encounter with a German peace activist leads Pip to an internship in South America with the Sunlight Project, an organization that traffics in all the secrets of the world
- including, Pip hopes, the secret of her origins. TSP is the brainchild of Andreas Wolf, a charismatic provocateur who rose to fame in the chaos following the fall of the Berlin Wall. Now on the lam in Bolivia, Andreas is drawn to Pip for reasons she doesn`t underst&, & the intensity of her response to him upends her conventional ideas of right & wrong. Jonathan Franzen`s Purity is a grand story of youthful idealism, extreme fidelity, & murder. The author of The Corrections & Freedom has imagined a world of vividly original characters
- Californians & East Germans, good parents & bad parents, journalists & leakers
- & he follows their intertwining paths through landscapes as contemporary as the omnipresent Internet & as ancient as the war between the sexes. Purity is the most daring & penetrating book yet by one of the major writers of our time.
