On more recent editions some GRs, the official long-distance hiking routes, are also marked (although not as clearly as on hiking maps from other publishers). Map legend is in Spanish only.HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT 50K MAP: all the titles in CNIG’s 200K Provincial Road Maps series at 1:200, 000 are overprinted with the grid for the 1:50, 000 maps & can be used to see the area covered by each 50K title. - MAP TITLES: the grids shown on our website serve both the civilian & the military 1:50, 000 topographic series. Although the areas covered by maps in both series are identical (apart from some border or coastal sheets), occasionally map titles differ – only one title is shown on the grid, usually the military one. In Galicia, the Basque country & in the Catalan speaking areas the tendency now is to use local place names rather than the often better known Castilian ones. Where possible, both versions are included in our titles. Map titles listed on our website are based on information received by us at the time of publication, but sometimes maps arrive showing a completely different title! As long as the map number is as ordered, the correct map has been supplied.

Gaspard Winckler, master forger, is trapped in a basement studio on the outskirts of Paris, with his paymaster`s blood on his hands. The motive for this murder? A perversion of artistic ambition. After a lifetime lived in the shadows, he has strayed too close to the sun. Fittingly for such an enigmatic writer, Portrait of a Man is both Perec`s first novel & his last. Frustrated in his efforts to find a publisher, he put it aside, telling a friend: ”I`ll go back to it in ten years when it`ll turn into a masterpiece, or else I`ll wait in my grave until one of my faithful exegetes comes across it in an old trunk.” An apt coda to one of the brightest literary careers of the twentieth century, it is
- in the words of David Bellos, the ”faithful exegete” who brought it to light
- ”connected by a hundred threads to every part of the literary universe that Perec went on to create
- but it`s not like anything else that he wrote”.

Portrait of a Turkish Family is a masterpiece of memoir writing. Irfan Orga was born into a prosperous family in the twilight of the Ottoman Empire. His mother was a beauty, married at thirteen, who lived in the seclusion of a harem, as befitted a Turkish woman of her class. His grandmother was an eccentric autocrat, determined at all costs to maintain her traditional habits. But the First World War changed everything. Death & financial disaster reigned, the Sultan was overthrown & Turkey became a republic. The family was forced to adapt to an unimaginably impoverished life. In 1941 Irfan Orga arrived in London, & seven years later he wrote this almost painfully honest portrait of the extraordinary story of his family`s survival. It is a compelling read, beautifully written, & full of insights into both ancient traditions & the changes brought about by war & revolution. ...
