New York reduced to a miniature city? In New York Resized, photographer Jasper Leonard offers you a completely new perspective on The Big Apple. His Tilt-Shift technique creates a dazzling bird`s-eye perspective. Taking pictures from rooftops, helicopters or even drones, Leonard points his lens at the skyscrapers & yellow cabs from above, transforming the city into a swirling ant-hill of miniature people. His images are accompanied by the best"es about New York, & his unique style guarantees that this is the most original photobook about New York that you will ever see. Praise for Antwerp Resized: ” What started as a dissertation with homemade lenses has resulted in a surprising photo book”
- Gazet van Antwerpen (newspaper). ” Thanks to his special tilt-shift lenses the photographer creates the illusion you are watching miniature sculptures. Not people but puppets. Not buildings but maquettes”
- De Morgen (newspaper). Facebook: Jasper Leonard Photography; Twitter: @jasperleonard; Instagram: jasper.leonard; www.jasperleonard.be. Also available: Belgium Resized ISBN 9789401434614; Antwerp Resized ISBN 9789401432702.

From 1906 to 1934, Eugene de Salignac shot over twenty thousand 8-by-10-inch glass-plate negatives of New York City. As sole photographer at the Department of Bridges/ Plant & Structures during that period of dizzying growth, he documented the creation of the city`s modern infrastructure bridges, major municipal buildings, roads, & subways. For years, these remarkably lyrical photographs have been used in books & films, but never credited to de Salignac. ” New York Rises” is the first monograph to present them as an aesthetically coherent oeuvre by a photographer with a unique vision. As meticulous in his record keeping as he was creative in his photography, de Salignac left five handwritten logs that identify each negative by place & exact date. This information is complemented throughout the book by narrative captions expanding on themes such as accidents, bridges, workers, & the Depression. Michael Lorenzini has unearthed primary sources to reconstruct de Salignac`s biography. Kevin Moore explores his work in the context of other photographers of the period, including Eugene Atget & Berenice Abbott. ...

New York State & New England Recreation Map ITMB

ITMB expands its coverage of the USA with a detailed map of New York State and New England on a double-sided map at a very detailed scale. The one side covers most of the state and the southern portion of the New England states, along with an inset map of the greater NYC area, the other side covers from Boston and Cape cod to the northern extremes of Maine and west into Vermont, with inset maps of Boston and Boston Region. The reality of mapping the USA is that it is too large a country and too populous to be mapped in detail except by regions. As a sophisticated economy, it has thousands of towns and an intensive road/rail network. Most American mapping companies took the easy route and mapped one state at a time. As some states are relatively small, this resulted in a visitor
needing to acquire dozens of maps to cover the extent of their visit. This map is a giant step forward in providing sensible mapping for a great country to visit.
