We are in Ireland & it`s an awfully long time ago. Centuries & centuries. The country is supposed to have gone Christian, but there`s still magic in the air, salmon in the rivers, berries in the bushes, druids in the forest, a Worm in the lake, fairy music in the distance. Manchan`s mother wants to make a monk of Manchan. Manchan most emphatically does not want to be made a monk of. He`d rather sing songs with his father, or go fishing with his friend, Pagan-of the-Six-Toes, or go charging through the forest with his pet pig, Muck, or go bare-back riding over the bog on the chieftain`s mad ram, Balor. Anything fun or adventurous or magical, & absolutely nothing to do with turnips, penance, prayers, monks & chanting. Poor Manchan! The more he mucks about having fun, the more his mother is determined to tame him. ...

Topographic coverage of mainland Spain at 1:50, 000 in the MTN50 (Mapa Topográfico Nacional) series from the Centro Nacional de Información Geografica, the country’s civilian survey organization. The maps have contours at 20m intervals, enhanced by relief shading, plus colouring and/or graphics to show different types of terrain, vegetation or land use. Boundaries of national parks & other protected areas are marked. In addition to all the usual information featured on topographic mapping at this scale, detailed presentation of the road & rail networks, rural tracks & paths, etc, the maps also show campsites & mountain refuges. On more recent editions some GRs, the official long-distance hiking routes, are also marked (although not as clearly as on hiking maps from other publishers). Each map covers 29.5x 18.5 km (with adjustments in the border or coastal areas). The maps have a 1-km UTM grid, plus margin ticks for latitude & longitude at 1` intervals. Map legend is in Spanish only.HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT 50K MAP: all the titles in CNIG’s 200K Provincial Road Maps series at 1:200, 000 are overprinted with the grid for the 1:50, 000 maps & can be used to see the area covered by each 50K title. TO SEE THE LIST OF TITLES IN THIS SERIES PLEASE CLICK ON THE SERIES LINK.PLEASE NOTE
- MAP TITLES: the grids shown on our website serve both the civilian & the military 1:50, 000 topographic series. Although the areas covered by maps in both series are identical (apart from some border or coastal sheets), occasionally map titles differ – only one title is shown on the grid, usually the military one. In Galicia, the Basque country & in the Catalan speaking areas the tendency now is to use local place names rather than the often better known Castilian ones. Where possible, both versions are included in our titles. Map titles listed on our website are based on information received by us at the time of publication, but sometimes maps arrive showing a completely different title! As long as the map number is as ordered, the correct map has been supplied.

Mud, Sweat & Tears

Mud, Sweat and Tears is a fascinating account of the life and adventures – so far! – of the remarkable Bear Grylls. The book sheds light on Grylls’ early development, from growing up on the Isle of Wight where he was taught by his father to sail and climb at an early age, to leading out-of-bounds night-climbing missions at school and then taking up mountaineering and martial arts as a teenager. These experiences led him to the foothills of the mighty Himalayas and then to a grandmaster`s karate training camp in Japan. Upon his return, he embarked on the notoriously gruelling selection course for the British Special Forces to join 21 SAS - a journey which pushed him to the limits of physical and mental endurance. Then, in a horrific free-fall parachuting accident in Africa, Bear
broke his back in three places. Astonishingly, only eighteen months after being told he might never walk again, Bear defied doctors` expectations, and at twenty-three, became one of the youngest ever climbers to scale Everest. But this was just the beginning…Known and admired by millions from his global TV series, books, and his work as Chief Scout to the Scouting Association, Bear Grylls has survived where few would dare to go. Here, for the first time, Bear tells the story of his remarkable, action-packed life. Gripping, moving and wildly exhilarating, Mud, Sweat and Tears is a must-read for adrenalin junkies and armchair adventurers alike. Now who knows what he’ll do next?
