Morecambe in 1911 in a fascinating series of reproductions of old Ordnance Survey plans in the Alan Godfrey Editions, ideal for anyone interested in the history of their neighbourhood or family. Two versions of this map have been published, with the 1931 version covering a slightly larges area. The main map covers the centre of the town & West End, stretching from Queen`s Terrace & Green Street southward to Fairfield Road. Features include most of the harbour, Midland station, Euston Road station, Torrisholme Junction No.2, Poulton Hall, Winter Gardens, Poulton Square, Midland Hotel, tramway & depot (1911 map), Promenade, West End, West End Pier, Sandylands, Wood Hill, etc. The 1911 version has extracts from a contemporary trade directory on the reverse. On the reverse of the 1931 version is the adjacent Sheet 30.01, which extends coverage northward to include the Central Pier, Tower Theatre & Town Hall. The plans have been taken from the Ordnance Survey mapping & reprinted at about 15 inches to one mile (1:4, 340). On the reverse most maps have historical notes & many also include extracts from contemporary directories.
