Plenty of ' New' & Updates for our 2013 Editions of Menorca Tour & Trail Super-Durable Map & Walk! Menorca guidebook. We completed our research for our new Walk! While we have lost some walking routes due to access problems the positive changes more than compensate with some very good news for visitors to this ' Gem of the Med'. Ferreries' new dual carriageway bypass will speed you past this notorious bottleneck, while also improving access onto the minor lane that takes us into the spectacular Barranc de Algendar. A completely new ferry port has been built & commissioned south of Ciutadella at Son Oleo with direct access to the town's RC-2 bypass, so eliminating Ciutadella's traffic chaos associated with car ferry arrivals & departures. Out of town there is good news for beach lovers as the previously private ' Pay' car parks have been taken over by the authorities & turned into ' Free' car parks; Cala Macarella, Cala Turqueta, Platja de Son Saurer, & Cala de Algaiarens are the popular beaches to benefit. New large electronic ' Beach Parking' information signs have been installed at the start of the car park access roads to advise users of the available spaces; though not working at May 2013 these should be very useful for everyone visiting these beaches. ' Cami de Cavalls' is the big news for everyone who enjoys exploring Menorca on foot. At last all sections have been completed including comprehensive wayposting & signage. Now it is possible to circumnavigate the whole island on the official ' Cd C' trails without ever having any 'access' problems that have dogged many of Menorca's walking trails in the recent past. Cami de Cavalls Guidebook 20 routes to discover Minorca is an impressive guidebook published by the Fundacio Desti Menorca which is available from bookshops on the island for A22. Impressive on background but the book does not have any walking directions or instructions, our Tour & Trail Map combined with the frequent wayposting & signage should keep you on trail through the countryside but the Cd C is a tad more difficult to follow through the urban areas. Mao (Mahon) now has a dedicated new bus station just off Placa de s' Esplanade complete with information office. Combined with pedestrianising a number of the central streets this makes exploring the capital an even better experience than it was before. In Ciutadella the bus termini for a number of routes have been moved from the central squares out to a rather anonymous location, so remember your route back to the terminus if arriving by bus. Walk!
