Mavrovo National Park in western Macedonia on detailed map at 1:55, 000 from Trimaks, with an enlargement of Mavrovo, panels highlighting recommended routes, notes about the region & its best sights, plus a road map of Macedonia. All place names are in the Latin alphabet. Topography is shown by contours with altitude colouring; contour interval appears to be 50m, although not always consistent with marked spot heights. The map shows local footpaths, & road network indicates recommended cycling routes. Symbols mark various tourist facilities including hotels & motels, restaurants, car parks & petrol stations, etc. Small drawings show locations where examples of local fauna can be found, including wild boars, bears, deer, etc. The map has latitude lines at 15’ intervals. Tasmanian-born Charles Turnbull Harrisson (1867-1914) was one of the members of Douglas Mawson's legendary Australasian Antarctic Expedition of 1911-14. Harrisson joined the expedition as a biologist & artist, a part of the Western Party based on Queen Mary Land & led by Frank Wild.
