In his footsteps there followed a multi-national crowd of traders & tourists, soldiers & fortune-seekers, scholars & empire-builders, lured by Egypt`s rich & ancient history, her compelling landscapes, the elusive ruins of once-magnificent civilisations or her increasingly strategic importance in world politics.
