La Thuile – Piccolo San Bernardo, map No. 2, in a series of detailed, GPS compatible hiking maps of the Italian Alps from L’ Escursionista Editore, highlighting hiking routes including the Via Ferrata climbing paths, campsites, refuges, shelters, etc. Coverage starts just south of Courmayeur & extends along the French border from north of the Col de la Seigne & across the Col du Petit Saint-Bernard, to Valgrisenche. A separate booklet provides descriptions of three hiking trails: a 3-day tour around the local lakes from La Thuile to Col du Peitit Saint-Bernard & the Deffeyes refuge; a 3-day trek across the local valleys; a 3-day “ Trekking in Solitude” route, indicating the degree of difficulty, average hiking time & ascent/descent. Cartography & the overprint are the same, but the accompanying booklet contains only colour photos. Maps in this L’ Escursionista Editore series have clear, easy to read cartography based on the Italian topographic survey with contours at 25m intervals, enhanced by relief shading, graphic relief & colouring for glaciers & woodlands. They show numerous spot heights & names of peaks, ridges, glaciers, valleys, etc, with boundaries of national parks or other protected areas prominently marked. The overprint highlighting waymarked hiking trails gives their names and/or official numbers & indicates difficult passages & Via Ferrata climbing paths. The maps also show climbing sites & highlight locations of organized campsites, mountain refuges, bivouac places, hotels & inns/restaurants. Other information
