It shows settlements, houses, roads, cultivated areas, waterways, cutting areas, mires, rock exposures, & relief. One map sheet covers an area of 30 x 40 km & one centimetre corresponds to 500 metres on the ground. The 1:50, 000 topographic map is also an ideal complement to nautical charts as it provides useful information about the land areas adjacent to waterways. Kiveton Park & Wales in 1901 in a fascinating series of reproductions of old Ordnance Survey plans in the Alan Godfrey Editions, ideal for anyone interested in the history of their neighbourhood or family. The map is covers the small village of Wales, a few miles south-east of Sheffield, stretching from Wales Court southward to the Manor House, Lord Conyers Arms, Wales Grange, St John`s church & the cemetery. Further east is the colliery settlement of Kiveton Park, including Kiveton Park Collieries, the railway with part of the Killamarsh Branch, Kiveton Rows & The Barracks, etc. On the reverse are directory entries for Wales, Todwick & Harthill with Woodall. a 1916 Midland Railway timetable for the Sheffield-Treeton-Chesterfield line.
