Italy on a large, double-sided map at 1:800, 000 from Insight Guides, including street plans of central Milan, Venice, Bologna, Florence Rome and Naples, with an extensive index covering both the road map and the city plans. Coverage includes the French Alps with the Rhone Valley, Switzerland, German Alps, western and southern Austria, Slovenia and most of Croatia.The map provides a very good overview of the topography, with relief shading enhanced by plenty of peak names and heights, plus names of various mountain ranges and valleys. Road network is very clearly presented, with driving distances shown on main routes. Motorway service areas are marked, as well are roads closed to motorized traffic or nor recommended for caravans. Railway lines show high speed routes.
Picturesque towns are highlighted and symbols indicate various other places of interest. The map has no geographical coordinates. The index, in a separate booklet attached to the map cover, lists locations with their postcodes and includes street indexes for the city plans as well as a separate list of places of interest.A special feature of the Insight Travel Map series is additional information provided in the margins of both the main map and all the enlargements and street plans. Numbers of roads leading to the edge of the map are prominently displayed there, together with distances to the nearest towns and/or major locations along the route, plus, where appropriate, to nearest motorway junction.
