Italy in World War II on a large, double-sided map at 1:600, 000 showing various front lines, directions of main attacks by all combatant forces, locations & dates of important battles, airborne & seaborne landings, boundaries of various zones, etc. The base map with the country’s present day road network is overprinted with information showing developments from various stages of the war, from the attack lines of the Italian forces against France & Yugoslavia between 1940 & 1942 to the different front lines charting the progress of the Allied forces after the Sicily landings in July 1943. The map shows locations of main battles, indicating their dates & the forces which took part in them, including Italian partisan units & groups allied to the RSI (Repubblica Sociale Italiana or the Saló Republic, set up by Mussolini after his recapture by the German).
