Istanbul in the Thomas Cook Pocket Guide series; comprising a range of handy, pocket-sized guides covering a comprehensive range of international cities & regions. Each of the guides in the series identifies the destination’s most entertaining highlights & principal attractions, helping visitors decide what to do in a limited time. The guides are aimed at those planning city or resort-based breaks & often cover unusual destinations that are not available from other publishers. Thomas Cook’s Pocket Guides are arranged thematically & are designed to help readers use them easily on the move. In the city guides, an introductory section profiles the destination, with background information on when to go, history, lifestyle & culture. A ‘ Making the Most of…’ section explores the city, with individual sections on shopping, eating & drinking, entertainment & nightlife, sport & relaxation, accommodation, suggested itineraries, principal sites of interest & advice on arrival. Further sections detail the various regions & neighbourhoods of the city in addition to recommendations for the best out of town trips. In the regional & resort-based titles, a Resorts section explores the range of possible options, with details of the nearest beaches, prices, locations & things to see & do. There is also a chapter dedicated to excursions away from the resort, with recommendations of principal attractions in the region. A Lifestyle chapter details useful information on food & drink, shopping, activities for children, sports & activities & festivals & events.A Practical Information section provides a directory of useful guidance, tailored to both the city & regional destinations. The city guides include information on getting there, entry requirements, money, health, safety & crime, opening hours, toilets, children, communication, electricity, travellers with disabilities, Tourist Information centres, background reading, emergency medical services, police & embassies & consulates. The resort-based titles also include information on beaches, customs, getting around, media, religion, smoking, time differences & tipping. * Please note: Thomas Cook are currently replacing the comprehensive range of titles in the ‘ City Spot’ & ‘ Hot Spot’ series with the new ‘ Pocket Guide’ series. While the books have been updated & re-jacketed, content still remains predominantly the same, so customers are advised to consult the City Spot & Hot Spot series if the destination they require has not yet been published in the new Pocket Guide format.* ...
