Isle of Wight is the Jarrold Short Walks guide to exploring the walking possibilities on the isl&. This pocket-sized guide covers a selection of walks in the region that are suitable for walkers of all ages & abilities. A range of routes are covered, including walks in the old town at Newtown, Freshwater & Tennyson Down, around Bembridge & Calbourne & Winkle Street. Each of the walks is colour-coded by difficulty, allowing walkers to plan their route accordingly. The guide is structured in three main sections with different levels of difficulty- short & easy walks, those of modest length that may include uphill walking & more challenging routes that may be longer & over more rugged terrain- covering a total of 20 walks. Each walk has a mini summary & an information box with details of starting points, distance, approximate time, parking & any individual route features. There is also information on refreshments, local transport & public toilets en route. Detailed route descriptions are accompanied by Ordnance Survey extracts mapping the route in addition to colour photographs illustrating some of the highlights of the region. Appendices provide further useful information on walking safety, GPS, the Countryside Code, local organisations & Ordnance Survey maps.
