The International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code relates to the safe carriage of dangerous goods by sea, but does not include all details of procedures for packing of dangerous goods or actions to take in the event of an emergency or accident involving personnel who handle goods at sea. The IMDG Code has undergone many changes over the years, in both format & content, in order to keep up with the rapid expansion of the shipping industry. Amendment 38-16

Includes:: revisions to various sections of the Code & to transport requirements for specific substances. It was adopted by IMO’s Maritime Safety Committee (MSC) at its ninety-ninth session in May 2018. Amendment 38-16 of the Code is mandatory as from 1 January 2020 but may be applied by Administrations in whole or in part on a voluntary basis from 1 January 2019.

Each sheet covers 40’ of latitude & 1° of longitude & has a grid based on the Kronstadt system which, according to the publishers’ notes, is related closely to the UTM system & is suitable for a GPS set to UTM or MGRS. The maps also have either additional margin ticks or a grid for latitude & longitude. On the reverse are illustrated notes about the area, plus a glossary of Berber terms & notes on transliteration of local names. Map legend & all the texts are in English & French.
