From Tony Award-winning composer-lyricist-star Lin-Manuel Miranda comes a backstage pass to his groundbreaking, hit musical Hamilton. Lin-Manuel Miranda`s groundbreaking musical Hamilton is as revolutionary as its subject, the poor kid from the Caribbean who fought the British, defended the Constitution, & helped to found the United States. Fusing hip-hop, pop, R&B, & the best traditions of theater, this once-in-a-generation show broadens the sound of Broadway, reveals the storytelling power of rap, & claims the origins of the United States for a diverse new generation. HAMILTON: THE REVOLUTION gives readers an unprecedented view of both revolutions, from the only two writers able to provide it. Miranda, along with Jeremy Mc Carter, a cultural critic & theater artist who was involved in the project from its earliest stages
- ”since before this was even a show, ” according to Miranda
- traces its development from an improbable perfor-mance at the White House to its landmark opening night on Broadway six years later. In addition, Miranda has written more than 200 funny, revealing footnotes for his award-winning libretto, the full text of which is published here. Their account features photos by the renowned Frank Ockenfels & veteran Broadway photographer, Joan Marcus; exclusive looks at notebooks & emails; interviews with Questlove, Stephen Sond-heim, leading political commentators, & more than 50 people involved with the production; & multiple appearances by Presi-dent Obama himself. The book does more than tell the surprising story of how a Broadway musical became an international phenomenon: It demonstrates that America has always been renewed by the brash upstarts & brilliant outsiders, the men & women who don`t throw away their shot.

The 1:50, 000 topographic map gives a more general picture of the ground features than a basic map. It shows settlements, houses, roads, cultivated areas, waterways, cutting areas, mires, rock exposures, & relief. One map sheet covers an area of 30 x 40 km & one centimetre corresponds to 500 metres on the ground. The 1:50, 000 topographic map is also an ideal complement to nautical charts as it provides useful information about the land areas adjacent to waterways. For example, all Finnish sea areas are covered by 1:50, 000 topographic map sheets. ...

In the middle of the sprawling Zaatari refugee camp, Dominic Dromgoole watches from the makeshift wings as Hamlet delivers one of his celebrated soliloquies. Four years earlier, Dromgoole, the Artistic Director of the Globe, had come up with a wildly ambitious idea.. .to mark the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare`s death by taking his most famous play to every country on the planet. Over two full years, Dromgoole & the Globe players toured all seven continents performing Hamlet in sweltering deserts, grand Baltic palaces & heaving marketplaces
- despite food poisoning in Mexico, the threat of ambush in Somalil&, an Ebola epidemic in West Africa & political upheaval in Ukraine. Hamlet: Globe to Globe tells the fascinating story of this unprecedented theatrical adventure in which Dromgoole shows us the world through the prism of Shakespeare`s universal drama. We see what the Danish prince means to the students of Cambodia, the effect of Polonius on the citizens of the tiny African nation of Djibouti & how a sixteenth-century play can touch the lives of Syrian refugees. Shakespeare`s timeless power to transcend borders, to touch the human heart, & to bring the world closer together, has rarely been demonstrated in such a bold & brilliant way.

Includes::
Bochum, Cologne, Dortmund, Duisburg, Düsseldorf, Essen, Gelsenkirchen, Oberhausen & other towns, with their great network of railways & industries. The maps are taken from the British War Office 1:12, 500 plans & reduced at Approx. 1:19, 000. Published in 1945, prior to the Allied occupation of the area, the maps are especially good at showing industry, collieries & transport. They are not bombing maps
- indeed, they make clear that allowance is not made for bomb damage
- but show the areas with all their industrial sites & railways largely as they were before the bombing raids of 1943-44. The maps have additional information added by British intelligence. This is normally accurate but allowance must be made for the `fog of war` & occasional spelling mistakes, etc. Each title has on the reverse a specially written introduction to the area in English, with a shorter text in German. Map legend is in English only.

Falk, one of Germany's leading publishers of street plans, produce their town plans in two different formats. Falk Extra plans are folded in a standard way, where the whole map can be opened to view the entire area it covers. For larger cities, the same mapping is also published with a special folding system designed to show only a small section of the map at one time. The whole map can be opened but it will be cut in several places. Many find these street plans very user-friendly & easier to handle than conventional maps. Plans of lager cities include a separate map of the town centre at a more detailed scale & a diagram of the underground & the suburban rail network. The plans also show the postal divisions & have an extensive street index which, where appropriate, shows individual postal codes for each street. Map legend

Hamlet

Hamlet is not only one of Shakespeare's greatest plays, but also the most fascinatingly problematical tragedy in world literature. First performed around 1600, this a gripping and exuberant drama of revenge, rich in contrasts and conflicts. Its violence alternates with introspection, its melancholy with humour, and its subtlety with spectacle. The Prince, Hamlet himself, is depicted as a complex, divided, introspective character. His reflections on death, morality and the very status of human beings make him 'the first modern man'.
