Beautifully presented geological wall maps of the world from the Future Mapping Company, designed to appeal to anyone who wants to enhance their room with a bold splash of colour. Available in two sizes, 100x 70cm or 196x 100cm, the maps are produced using the lithographic printing process in 10 metallic ink colours on high quality FSC approved silk-coated paper. The maps can be used to trace different lithospheric plates, sub-plates & micro-plates that make up the surface of our planet, & have an informative map legend. In addition to the geological information the maps also show the names of countries & their capitals, with plenty of names of topographic features such as mountain ranges, deserts, etc. On oceans & seas various sea floor ridges, basins, etc, are also named. All place names are in their English versions. Central Pacific with New Zealand is shown on both sides of the map for better presentation of that region. Both sizes also include the two Polar Regions on insets; in the smaller size inserted over parts of the Pacific & the Indian Ocean, in the larger version next to the main map. The maps are drawn on the Winkel Tripel projection. ...

The countryside is changing faster than ever. Fifty years of conservation achievements in the UK are now being confronted by a new complexion of economic forces that are driving change in the countryside. At the same time new ideas in conservation are altering the role that conservation is being asked to play in negotiating the transition from past to future. This revised edition of Bill Adams classic work ” Future Nature” tackles the new challenges in the countryside & wildlife conservation head-on through a new Introduction & Postscript with updated arguments about naturalness & our social engagement with nature, & complemented by a new Foreword by Adrian Phillips. Concepts such as biodiversity & sustainability, & changes in our understanding, appreciation & concern for nature, offer unprecedented opportunities. Bill Adams explores the scientific, cultural & economic significance of conservation. He argues that conservation must move beyond the boundaries of parks & reserves to embrace the whole countryside. The importance of conservation for the future is enormous. It holds the potential to create new spaces for nature, both in the landscape & in our lives & imaginations. This factual, beautifully written & thought-provoking book offers a fundamental reassessment of conservation, its importance, & how to achieve it. It is published with BANC. ...
