World Commemorative Olympic Games Political Wall Map from the Future Mapping Company, size 101.5 x 59.5cm / 40” x 23.5” approx – encapsulated version with hanging strips, printed in the colours of the five Olympic rings & highlighting the host cities from Athens in 1896 to Rio de Janeiro in 2016. Published to coincide with the 2012 Olympic Games, the map has pictograms of the 36 sports which featured in the London Olympics printed around its borders. The map is also available without the encapsulation, printed on high quality medium weight silk-finish paper All place names are in their English versions. Metallic & luminous versions of the five Olympic colours: blue, black, red, yellow & green represent different continents or regions of the world. Subtle relief shading shows the main mountain chains, with major rivers & names of some geographical regions (Sahara, Rocky Mountains, etc.). The maps also show the network of main roads & selected airports. Oceans, presented in shades of silver, indicate topography of the sea floor showing main ridges, fracture zones, etc., & include names of basins & plains. Beautifully presented geological wall maps of the world from the Future Mapping Company, designed to appeal to anyone who wants to enhance their room with a bold splash of colour. Available in two sizes, 100x 70cm or 196x 100cm, the maps are produced using the lithographic printing process in 10 metallic ink colours on high quality FSC approved silk-coated paper. Published in 2015 to mark the company’s 10th anniversary, the maps provide a laser vision of all the mega-structures & most important geological groups that have resulted from the turbulent history of the Earth`s surface over 4.56 billion years. The maps can be used to trace different lithospheric plates, sub-plates & micro-plates that make up the surface of our planet, & have an informative map legend. In addition to the geological information the maps also show the names of countries & their capitals, with plenty of names of topographic features such as mountain ranges, deserts, etc. On oceans & seas various sea floor ridges, basins, etc, are also named. All place names are in their English versions. Central Pacific with New Zealand is shown on both sides of the map for better presentation of that region.
